Act of Repentance
One day, one of my friend asked me to join him on a sermon. This was during a time when I barely went to church. During the sermon, the preacher was talking about forgiveness and love. He was sharing how his father forced him to eat on the floor like animal and how he forgave him. Somehow that really touched me, perhaps because of how God’s love changed him to be able to love his father. He mentioned that only in Christianity, God loves his people and salvation is given by Him as a grace. That particular point really touched my heart and brain. I thought that if God exist, this is the kind of God whom men can have hope in. Afterwards my life changed, and I delve further into Christianity, where it gives me a direction on how to be a better man verse by verse, character by character. It is a never-journey to achieve perfection, to be akin to Jesus in Christianity. Over time, I grew to realise how much suffering life has which leads me to believe in afterlife and the need for God as a source of hope and a role model for broken people like us.
This event changed my life forever. It was a free and small act of invitation with big impact that will trickle down my life forever. If God wills, people change, in a huge way.
